Two-car accident kills construction worker in Ohio

A 63-year-old man from Campbell, Ohio, is dead. The Avon Police Department confirmed that the construction worker was killed on Sept. 12 when a two-car accident occurred. The construction accident caused the man to sustain life-threatening injuries - he would succumb to those some time after he was transported via ambulance to the Avon Emergency Care Center.

According to reports, the two-vehicle accident happened some time after 9 a.m. near the Lear Nagle Road bridge. The 63-year-old was struck by one of the vehicles involved in the crash. Details from the crash show that the collision occurred on the westbound portion of I-90 in Avon, Ohio. The crash apparently caused one of the drivers to lose control of his vehicle. He then veered into the construction zone where the 63-year-old was working. That construction zone where the accident occurred is a continuation of the new I-90 interchange project.

The Avon Fire Department transported the 63-year-old to the aforementioned medical center. No one else was seriously injured in the crash. One of the drivers was a 50-year-old man from Brecksville, Ohio. The other was a 34-year-old man from Avon.

According to authorities, the accident remains under investigation. The Avon Police Department has not confirmed any further details surrounding the fatal crash. A sergeant with the department said that there is nothing more to be released at this time but authorities are working on more information to be released soon. Reportedly, no charges have been filed and the accident report has yet to be released.

The deceased construction worker was employed by Athos Painting in Seven Hills, Ohio. According to his employer, the man loved his family and was dedicated to his job.

Construction accidents such as this often leave family and friends bereaved over the loss of a loved one. If police determine that the death was the fault of one of the drivers, the family may be able to file a suit against that individual.
