The right approach to qualifying for SSD benefits

On Behalf of | Nov 13, 2019 | Qualifying For SSD/SSI Benefits

Injured workers in Ohio have a number of concerns, tops of which are recovering their health and how they will earn an income if they can’t return to work for an extended period of time. These concerns can consume an injured worker’s everyday life. When they find out that they might qualify to receive Social Security Disability benefits, it can seem like a ray of light. However, most people know that qualifying to receive SSD benefits can be an uphill climb.

This thought can, unfortunately, make people think that it isn’t even worth it to apply for SSD benefits. They might just automatically assume that their application will be rejected. But, that isn’t always the case. The best approach to qualifying for SSD benefits is to get the right information and thoroughly review the eligibility criteria.

A solid initial application is the key to having the best chance to be approved to receive Social Security Disability benefits – but that result isn’t guaranteed. The Social Security Administration adheres to strict eligibility criteria, and the common refrain is that over half of all initial applications for SSD benefits are denied. However, this high denial rate is likely because some applicants are not diligent with regard to getting the right information on how to apply and what information to provide in an initial application.

At our law firm, we work with disabled individuals in Ohio who think they might be eligible to receive SSD benefits. We do our best to make sure our clients have the information and advocacy they need to successfully secure these benefits.
