Demolitions executive killed during construction accident in Ohio

When you work in construction, you know there are always some risks. Things can fall from above, you could slip and fall or you could be crushed. Fortunately, safety procedures protect workers like yourself from being hurt. Sometimes, those procedures aren't enough or aren't used properly, though, and that's when serious accidents, injuries and deaths occur.

Particularly in hazardous conditions, working with construction can be risky. Working over a waterway or dismantling items overhead can both be a risk, even if the proper procedures are followed. In this case, an overhead conveyor caused a problem that left several injured and one person dead.

Following the construction accident in Ohio, a demolitions executive has passed away. According to the news, the man, the president of Adamo Group, was on a construction site at the AEP Muskingum River Plant when the accident occurred. It's not clear if he was assisting with the work on the site or if he was there to monitor or check in on the operation.

It was around 8:30 a.m. when those on the site were working to take down a conveyor belt that was located over the waterway. The conveyor belt was old, the report shows, and when it was being removed, the housing for the belt line collapsed. Being unsecured at that point, it fell, injuring two people below the line and killing the executive.

The executive of the company has left behind four daughters and his wife. Police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration have not released any further information about the incident and it is not known whether there will be any penalties levied because of this accident.
