Workplace accident ruled accidental on Ohio River

This boat crash that took place on the Ohio River has been reported as being a workplace accident, but the employees hurt may still need to be treated for their injuries. If you're in an accident like this, despite no one being at fault, you are able to seek compensation through worker's compensation. Workplace accidents caused by safety issues or poor regulations should be discussed with someone who can help you get the compensation you deserve.

This boating accident took place on the Ohio River in May, a June 23 report states, and it resulted in the injury of three workers. At that time, the Walsh Construction boat capsized while the crew was trying to retrieve a boat that had gone toward the floodgates at the Falls of the Ohio River. There was more water passing through the area than expected, and that led to the capsized boat.

All three workers were wearing life jackets, and both of the vessels had the U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation devices. That boat, though, has still not been found; it may have sank after capsizing. The workers who were injured in the accident may not still employed by the company; one of the men's LinkedIn profiles reports that he no longer works for the company.

Walsh Construction reported that it has been conducting an internal investigation and plans to complete it soon. The company has not reported any specific findings, and the project manager did not report any changes being made to the company's water safety program.

This incident has been ruled as accidental, but the three men were still hurt. Worker's compensation should cover injuries like these in any situation, and if an investigation shows negligence, the company could be held liable.
