Construction accident injures 3

Ohioans might have heard about this accident that took place at North Carolina State University. According to news from Jan. 23, a serious construction accident led to three people being hurt. The reports claim that an 8-foot platform gave away in a construction area, and three workers fell approximately eight feet to the ground below.

Before the accident, the workers were allegedly helping a crane operator lift a steel beam into place. They were located inside a construction area at the Talley Student Center, according to the news. The platform they were using gave away, reportedly, and caused the workers to fall. Fortunately, there were no students injured or in danger at the time of the incident, according to the school officials on the scene.

The construction workers were lucky not to be fatally injured, but they did still require treatment. One of them reportedly hurt his back, another suffered from a head injury, and the third suffered from an injury to his leg. The three had to be taken to WakeMed for treatment.

According to the news, the company in charge of the project, Rogers Buildings, reported that the construction has been going on since 2011, but the incident on Jan. 22 was the first ever reported at the site. The State Department of Labor is investigating the incident, according to the story, because it's standard when injuries or workplace accidents happen.

Construction accidents shouldn't happen, but when they do, you may want to look into your options. You might be able to seek compensation. An attorney may be able to help you understand your right to workers' compensation and other forms of payment.
