5 workers suffer injuries following construction crash in Ohio

On Behalf of | Apr 23, 2015 | Construction Accidents

As someone who enjoys working on a construction team, you’re familiar with the risks of your job. You know that working on highways and roadways is dangerous, but as long as drivers are cautious, everything is usually fine. That wasn’t the case for five utility workers in Ohio, though. In West Chester, a vehicle struck the utility workers as they worked around the utility vehicle one afternoon, causing injuries to all the workers involved and the driver who caused the crash.

The crash took place when the vehicle, a Chevrolet Cavalier, crossed the centerline at around 3:20 p.m. on Cox Road. The black Cavalier spun after crossing the median and then hit four of the workers and one worker in the utility truck’s bucket. The majority of the workers were struck directly by the vehicle, causing impact injuries.

Following the collision, two of the workers who were injured had to be flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for the treatment of their injuries, while two others and the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The fifth worker, the man who was in the bucket at the time of the crash, was also taken to the hospital, but reports show that he was able to be discharged following a review of his condition.

While updates haven’t been given on the conditions of the workers still in the hospital or the driver, police have made a statement that they believe charges will be filed against the driver of the Chevrolet Cavalier.
